Seasonal Reflections: How to Use Summer to Reset Your Faith Priorities

Summer is that magical time when the schedule loosens, the grill fires up, and somehow, your kids start living in swimsuits. It’s also a perfect season to pause, breathe, and ask: How’s my walk with God doing… really?

No guilt—just a good ol’ summer reset.

When life slows down (even just a smidge), it's the perfect chance to realign your faith priorities. Jesus often withdrew to quiet places to pray (Luke 5:16), and He didn’t even have group texts or soccer practice in the way. If He needed time to reset, so do we!

Use summer to:

☀️ Rebuild your devotional rhythm—grab your Bible and head to the porch (coffee in hand, of course).
⛱️ Reflect with Matthew 6:33: “Seek first the kingdom of God…” before your calendar fills up again.
🌳 Take prayer walks (bonus: you can call it “exercise” and feel very accomplished).
📆 Reevaluate what’s been taking your energy. Is it drawing you closer to God—or just draining your battery?

Even simple things help:

  • Replace 10 minutes of scrolling with Scripture
  • Start a family gratitude journal
  • Ask God to show you what to say “yes” and “no” to next season

The goal isn't to overhaul your life—just to tune your heart to what matters most. Like Psalm 90:12 says, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”

So take a deep breath, grab your comfy shoes (and maybe your Bible), and let this summer be less about stress and more about soul care.

God’s not asking for perfection—just your presence. (And maybe a little less screen time).
