Summer events are in full swing—block parties, festivals, backyard BBQs, and the occasional awkward three-legged race. But guess what? These sun-soaked gatherings are prime real estate for sharing the love of Jesus (no megaphone required).
You don’t need to preach from the bouncy house (please don’t). Just be intentional. People are often more open in relaxed, fun settings—especially when there’s grilled meat and free lemonade.
Start with conversations, not conversions. Ask people how they’re doing. Listen. Be genuinely curious. Show up with kindness, not just your church flyer. Remember 1 Peter 3:15: “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” Translation: Share Jesus like you're offering a warm cookie, not a cold sales pitch.
Bring the joy! Host a neighborhood ice cream social and sneak in some gospel-centered games for kids. Volunteer at local events wearing your favorite “Jesus Loves You and So Do I” t-shirt (but maybe skip the blinking lights version).
And above all, let your life do the talking. People notice when you’re joyful, kind, and patient—especially when the hot dog line is 40 minutes long.
Quick Tips:
- 😊 Smile—it’s underrated and contagious!
- 🍉 Be where the people are (bonus if there’s watermelon).
- 📖 Know your verse or story—personal testimonies > sermons.
- 🫶 Love first, talk second.
- 🌭 If in doubt, bring snacks. Jesus fed people too.
This summer, go where the fun is—and take the gospel with you. Who knew outreach could come with funnel cake?
