Let’s be real: sometimes, screen time feels like the only thing standing between a peaceful afternoon and total sibling chaos. And while we’d love for our kids to spend summer building forts, reading the Gospels, and composing worship songs… most days, they just want a screen. And snacks. (Always snacks.)
But screen time doesn’t have to be a parenting guilt trip. With a little intention, it can actually support your family’s faith journey!
There’s tons of great faith-based content out there:
• 🎬 The Chosen – Kids Edition (yep, it exists!)
• 📱 Minno Kids – like Netflix, but with Jesus and fewer tantrums
• 🎵 Worship playlists made for kids (dance party + discipleship = win!)
The goal isn’t to eliminate screens—it’s to fill those moments with media that uplifts, teaches truth, and points their hearts to God.
Philippians 4:8 reminds us:
"Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right… think about such things." (Even if it’s through animated vegetables singing Bible verses.)
Set simple boundaries:
- One show = one follow-up question like “What did that teach you about God?”
- Use screen time as a launch pad for conversation and prayer.
- Bonus: quiet time for you without guilt!
And remember Deuteronomy 6:7 again: “Talk about [God’s word] when you sit at home…” Yes—even if you’re sitting in front of a screen with popcorn.
Intentional screen time isn’t about perfection—it’s about planting seeds of faith in a digital world. And hey, if it gives you 20 minutes to sip coffee while someone else teaches your kid a Bible verse? That’s what we call holy multitasking.
And remember Galatians 5:13: “Serve one another humbly in love.” Even if that love involves glitter, glue sticks, and someone eating half the cookies meant for the firehouse.
This summer, let’s get a little creative, a little messy, and a whole lot joyful—because sharing God’s love never goes out of season.
