Vacation is here! Time for adventure, rest, and asking, “Did someone remember the toothbrushes?” (Answer: probably not.)
While it’s easy to let routines slip—like quiet time, church livestreams, or pants that aren’t stretchy—vacation can actually be a great opportunity to grow spiritually as a family. Yes, even if the devotional happens between sunscreen battles and snack negotiations.
The key? Keep it simple and stay intentional.
Start your day with a short prayer or verse. Try Psalm 118:24: “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” That counts whether you’re hiking a mountain or stuck in a minivan.
Make use of natural moments:
🌿 Talk about God’s creation at the beach (Romans 1:20)
🚗 Listen to a Christian podcast on the road.
🌅 Reflect on God’s faithfulness while watching a sunset (Lamentations 3:22–23)
Ask your kids, “Where did you see God today?” You’ll be surprised what they say—right after, “I saw Him in the ice cream line!”
Remember, Deuteronomy 6:6–7 encourages us to teach God’s word “when you sit at home and when you walk along the road.” Or in modern terms: at the Airbnb and while waiting in line for the water slide.
Faith doesn’t take a vacation. But it can wear flip-flops.
So this summer, don’t aim for perfect—just present. God’s grace covers the late-night devotions, the missed church service, and the marshmallows burned in Jesus’ name.
You’ve got this. And more importantly—God’s got you.
