Let’s talk fruit. Not apples or bananas (though we support a good smoothie), but the Fruit of the Spirit—those nine juicy virtues from Galatians 5:22-23: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Basically, the spiritual version of a deluxe fruit basket.
Now, growing these fruits isn’t as easy as planting a seed and waiting. (If only!) It’s more like gardening with a toddler—messy, unpredictable, and occasionally involves throwing things. But hey, growth is growth.
This season, think of your faith like a backyard garden. Start by pulling some weeds: anger, gossip, that one grudge you’ve been watering for three years. Then add some fertilizer—prayer, scripture, and maybe a good podcast that doesn’t put you to sleep. And don’t forget water—aka God’s grace, because without it, we’re all just spiritual tumbleweeds.
Now, patience might take a while to sprout. (Ironically.) And self-control? Yeah, that one may look like a tiny, shriveled raisin for a while. But keep tending your heart-garden with love, and before long, you’ll notice some real fruit blooming.
Kindness will show up in how you talk to that one coworker who tests your salvation. Peace will settle in, even when your plans go sideways. Joy? It’ll sneak in during Tuesday traffic jams—seriously.
So let’s commit to spiritual gardening this season. It won’t always be neat. Sometimes the tomatoes of faithfulness might hit the neighbor’s yard. But hey, better fruit flying than no fruit growing at all.
Grab your gloves—let’s get planting. 🍓🌱
